How it all started...
Word of Life Christian Church is a non-denominational Church that had its first official church-planting meeting on 15 February 2014 at the home of Lead Pastor and Founder Antonio McElroy in Woodbridge, Va. A total of 34 adults was present at this meeting. It started its official Worship services in Potomac High School in Dumfries, VA on Sunday July 20, 2014. Pastor Antonio McElroy was installed as the first Pastor of Word of Life Christian Church on 12 September 2014 by Dr. David Reynolds of Greater Vision Community Church, Killeen, Texas. After taking many steps forward and backwards like most church-plants, WLCC began using a Purpose Driven Healthy Church Model’s approach which takes 4 to 6 years to implement to grow a healthy and balanced Church by networking with other Purpose Driven Churches. After COVID-19 was lifted in 2021, the church decided not to continue its portal church format in Potomac High School and pursue a fully controlled facility without scheduling restrictions and portable church requirements. In April 2024 Word of Life Christian moved its church 8306 Rugby Road, Manassas, Va.
Expanding the vision...
While Word of Life Christian Church sought to find a in-person facility in Northern Virginia during COVID-19, God opened a door for Word Life Christian Church to get involved in the PeacePlan. The PeacePlan is a grassroots church-to-church strategy. Your church does PEACE in your own community, then your church hooks up with a church in your community and they do PEACE locally in their own community. Eventually you expand into regions, states then into the nation then go globally to other countries. Word of Life Christian Church is leading several local churches in Kenya to start a Nationwide Movement of the PeacePlan (9 Year Commitment), it became the Northeast North American Regional Peace Training Church assisting US churches to implement the PeacePlan in their local communities, it partnered with a Rwanda Mission Organization called (AMU) to help many underprivileged children and adults to experience wholistic transformation in at risk communities in Rwanda and it adopted Pricy Education Centra School in Kenya to help assist them in education the next generation in one of the poorest communities in Nairobi, Kenya.
Where we are headed...
Our aim is to develop Healthy Champion Disciples who understand and live out the 5 Purposes of the Church and the 5 Purposes of a Christian (Worship, Membership, Discipleship, Ministry and Mission from the Great Commandment and Great Commission) (Matthew 22:37-40; Matthew 28:19-20). Doing what Jesus did. We want to empower and equip the local church member to discover their unique gifts, experiences, abilities, talents, and personality style and move beyond the walls of the church to live on mission for God wherever God leads them to reach the lost, the least, the lame, the lonely and the left out.
